Human Exploration Science Coordinator, European Space Agency
Dr. Oliver Angerer received his degree of medical doctor in 1997 from
the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (Germany). He also holds
a Master of Space Studies from the International Space University Strasbourg
(France) where is worked on "Space Genetics and the Future of Bioinformatics".
He is currently working as researcher in the Life Sciences Department
of the European Space Agency since 2001.
Prior to working at the European Space Agency, Oliver held a position
of physician at the University Clinic Würzburg in the department of
internal medicine, specialty endocrinology. He worked on the ward (including
on call duty) and did research on perifusion experiments with encapsulated
islet cells and studied the mechanisms of estrogen effects in myocardial
