This report is tentative and provocative. It is meant to inspire you to re-think and revitalize the Lisbon agenda and especially the European ICT agenda. Over the past years we booked important results with relatively modest means: the implementation of the ONP-guidelines and the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices (as part of the e-Europe Action Plans). It brought us a more open market for electronic communications, and stimulated the roll out and take up of new ICT-infrastructures and services. It made clear once more how tight the take up of ICT is related to innovation and sustainable economic growth. But we will not attain our targets by merely continuing in these tracks. The burst of the IT-bubble, new Member States, new technological possibilities and the rise of competing powers from Asia to America, - they all require a fresh look at our targets and the way to achieve them.more....

SEUSISS is a multinational project funded by the European Commission under the Socrates Programme. The project has collected information about the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experience, skills, confidence and attitudes of students and academic staff at the seven partner universities. It has also worked with the senior management of these universities to ascertain the ICT skills which they expect their first degree students and other graduates, and hence staff, to have and the strategies (procedures and mechanisms) which they apply to achieve these goals. Furthermore, participating universities are developing appropriate skills profiles for graduates over a 5 to 10 year perspective. Major and local employers of graduates of these universities are being contacted to ascertain their needs with respect to ICT skills profiles in new recruits of all types and ages. It is also looking at employers’ perception of their changing needs across a 5-10 year period.more....

Since January 2002 the e-Business W@tch has been covering seven manu-facturing and eight financial and service sectors. Results have been published in quarterly sector impact studies and newsletters, along with a set of statistics and other material on e-business. This is the second synthesis report of the e-Business W@tch, summarising main results of the sector impact studies and particularly of the second e-Business Survey, carried out in March 2003.

A total of 136 Go Digital awareness events were organised throughout Europe, with a total of more than 11550 participants. The number of participants differed greatly between the different events, depending on the target group, the organisation and the themes. All events were organised under the responsibility of the contractor, with only little guidance from the European Commission. Therefore, it is difficult to present the results in a homogenous manner or to draw general conclusions.more....
